Chewonki's Big Eddy Campground is a wilderness campground. Our
stewardship goal is to maintain the natural beauty of Big Eddy for a
true wilderness experience. Chewonki promotes low-impact camping and a
thorough respect for the natural world.

Campground Rules
Check in 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Check out time 11 a.m.
Quiet hours 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Speed limit 10 mph
Maximum trailer length is 28 feet. A few sites may accommodate a longer 5 th wheeler. Please contact us by email for more information
Consumption of alcohol is prohibited in public places.
No cutting of live trees. Only dead and down wood may be collected from the forest floor.
Fires may not be left unattended.
All vehicles must park in designated gravel areas only.
No burning of plastic or food garbage. Paper and cardboard are allowed.

No electronic entertainment devices allowed which can be heard or seen outside of your site.
Pets are welcome and must be kept on a leash at all times. Pets may not
be left unattended in the campground. Please pick up after them.
All camping equipment and vehicles must be placed on bare soil only,
not on vegetation. Revegetation is in progress throughout the
campground.
Firearms are permitted at Big Eddy after Sept. 30. They must be locked in a case and rendered incapable of use.
No discharging of firearms is allowed within the campground.
Bikes are not allowed on paper company roads and land.
Campers are responsible for taking their trash/recyclables to designated disposal areas.
Cancellation Policy
Due to the nature of our seasonal business we require a two-week notice for cancellations. Cancellation requests may be made by mail or email to: bigeddy@chewonki.org There is a 15% non-refundable cancellation fee. The remainder may be used as credit toward camping with us at a later date during the current
season only.
Cancellations made less than two weeks before the reserved date are
non-refundable but may be rescheduled within the same season, less the
15% processing fee.
Within 24 hours of the check-in date there will be no refunds and no
rescheduling allowed for cancellations or no-shows. Your site will not
be held for no-shows unless we hear from you by phone and email that
you are still coming. You will be responsible for paying for all
reserved nights.
Inclement weather is not considered an emergency.
Upon your arrival, you will be required to pay for the full number of days and guests for which you reserved.
We cannot hold a reservation for more than one night. Please call or
email if you will be delayed, and we will hold your site for an
additional day.
All campsites now
require minimum occupancy payment in full at the time of reservation.
